Dr. Rebecca New-Edson
Director of Ministries
The daughter of a Church of God pastor, Rebecca grew up in parsonages in Kentucky and Ohio. She felt the call to ministry early in life and has served in ministry for over forty years - serving as a church planter in Australia, as well as in pastoral roles in congregations in Illinois, Michigan, and Kentucky. She graduated from Anderson University with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. She earned Masters' degrees in Counseling Psychology from Oakland University, and in Divinity from Western Theological Seminary, and a PhD in Family and Human Ecology from Michigan State University.
Rebecca is a licensed Mental Health Therapist and owned and operated a private practice in Flint, Michigan for ten years. She has taught as an adjunct professor at the Anderson University School of Theology. Rebecca served for four years as the Chairperson of the General Assembly of the Church of God and of the Ministries Council for the Church of God. She has been the Director of WPA Ministries of the Church of God since 2011. She loves developing leadership for future ministry.
She is married to Robert Edson, a retired science teacher. Bob and Rebecca have five children, three of whom are married, and seven amazing grandchildren – ages 6 months to 14 years old. She loves being with family, playing games, watching college sports, and exercising.
