IXL is the program offered by WPA Ministries to those who have completed the ISL program of study and wish to continue their leadership development.
The following is a description of the 6 modules of study. Like ISL, participants would meet twice a year for three years to complete the program.
Module 2: DEVELOPING A LEADERSHIP CULTURE
Moving from the credibility of the leader to creating a culture of leadership is the premise of this second module. With Ephesians 4:11-13 as the primary biblical basis, this session examines the importance of cultivating an environment where leaders are developed—and the passing on of leadership is expected. We’ll discuss how core values and intentionality are necessary to move from being a leader of followers to a leader of leaders.
Module 3: CULTURE-CONNECTING LEADERSHIP
If you’re not already making adjustments in ministry methodology and leadership to reach our present culture, then you’re already behind schedule. Transitions in mindset and values are ever changing—and demand constant attention to the details of how we present the changeless message of Christ in our world. This has—and will continue to have an impact on the way we do leadership. It’s not a question of should we catch up—but how soon!
Module 4: RECOGNIZING & RECRUITING POTENTIAL LEADERS
This is the X in eXponential leadership. Just like the mathematical principle of exponential progression, the most effective way to create a leadership culture and insure the future of a church’s effectiveness, is to pass on ministry and leadership. And we don’t just pass it on to anybody, but those with the gifts and aptitudes for the ministry role they’re fulfilling. This module offers practical steps for identifying and moving yourself and those you lead through this process.
Module 5: TEAM LEADERSHIP
One of the factors prevailing churches of our present culture have in common is team leadership. In the past, the focus has been on the abilities and vision of the principle leader in an organization. While that’s still important, the key to bring about the fulfillment of the largest of dreams is allowing the maximum amount of people to own and embrace the vision. God designed us to be interdependent. The mission is best accomplished through team leadership.
Module 6: THE LEADERSHIP NETWORK
One of the dynamics that makes ISL so rewarding is the opportunity to build relationships with people from other church families. Not only do friendships develop, but a broad network of idea-exchanging and mutual support and encouragement also results. In this final module of IXL, participants will be given a chance to dialogue with moderators and fellow students about their personal situations. We’ll try to determine what we may have overlooked in the previous 5 modules, as well as provide a meaningful time of connecting with those you’ve been learning and growing with over the last three years—six years if you count ISL!
